Nicosia:Most young people in Cyprus rate their health as good or very good, with a significant majority surpassing the European Union average.
According to Cyprus News Agency, data from Eurostat revealed that 94% of Cypriots aged 16 to 29 described their health as good or very good in 2025, compared to 89.7% across the EU. This figure is notably higher than the 75% of the total population aged 16 and over in Cyprus who reported similar health perceptions, with the EU average for this group standing at 67.9%.
In Cyprus, young women reported higher rates of positive health perceptions than young men, with 95.4% of women aged 16-29 considering their health good or very good, compared to 92.6% of men. Conversely, across the EU, young men reported a slightly higher rate of positive health than young women, at 90.9% and 88.4% respectively.
Income levels also influenced health perceptions among Cyprus’s youth. Among those aged 16-29 from the lowest-income households, 90.7% rated their health as good or very good, while this figure rose to 96.2% in the highest-income households. A similar trend was observed in the EU, where 85.6% of young people from the lowest income quintile reported good or very good health, compared to 93.7% in the highest quintile.
