Nicosia:The share of the population aged 20 to 64 in Cyprus was reported at 61.6% as of January 1, 2025, surpassing the EU average of 58.3%.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Eurostat's data provides insights into the distribution of the working-age population across various EU regions, categorized by the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS 3).
A total of 39 EU regions had at least 63.0% of their population within the 20 to 64 age bracket. Germany had the highest concentration with 22 such regions, alongside several island regions in Spain and certain capital areas.
The Copenhagen region in Denmark and the Spanish islands of Ibiza and Formentera recorded the highest percentages, with 68.9% of their populations in the working-age category. Fuerteventura and Lanzarote in Spain followed closely with 68.3% and 67.3%, respectively.
Conversely, 189 NUTS 3 regions within the EU had a working-age population that constituted less than 55.0% of their total populations.
