Cyprus Weather Update: Seasonal Low Pressure Brings Variable Winds and Clear Skies

Nicosia: The Department of Meteorology in Cyprus has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, effective from 1800 on July 10, 2026, until 1800 on July 11, 2026. The forecast area extends 8 kilometers seawards and highlights the impact of seasonal low pressure on the region's weather conditions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast indicates that the weather will remain predominantly clear, although there will be periods of increased low cloud coverage during the night and early morning, which could result in mist and fog patches. Visibility is expected to be generally good, but it may decrease to moderate or poor levels in misty conditions, and very poor in foggy areas. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1009 hPa, with a sea surface temperature of 27°C.

The wind conditions for the forecast period vary across the different coastal areas. On the west coast, winds are expected to shift from southwest to northwest at a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4 during the night, transitioning to variable directions by morning and then back to southwest to northwest in the afternoon. The state of the sea will range from smooth to slight, with local variations in the afternoon.

For the south coast, southwest to northwest winds will prevail at night, becoming variable by morning, and shifting to south to southwest in the afternoon. Wind speeds are expected to increase locally to 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale by the afternoon, with the sea state remaining mostly smooth to slight.

The east coast will experience southwest winds during the night, changing to variable directions by morning, and then south to southwest in the afternoon. Wind speeds will increase to 4 to 5 locally, while sea conditions will remain smooth to slight.

On the north coast, the wind will initially be southeast to southwest, shifting to southwest to northwest by morning, and maintaining this direction into the afternoon. The sea state is expected to be smooth to slight, with localized slight conditions in certain areas.

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has not issued any warnings for this forecast period, suggesting that sea conditions will remain favorable for maritime activities despite the variable winds and occasional low visibility.
