Cyprus Weather: Sea Area Forecast Indicates Mild Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, effective from 1800 on August 16, 2026, to 1800 on August 17, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and highlights the presence of a seasonal low-pressure system combined with an unstable air mass influencing the region.

According to Cyprus News Agency, while the overall weather is expected to be mainly fine, early morning conditions may include local mist and an increase in low cloud cover, affecting visibility, which will range from good to moderate or poor in misty areas. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1008 hPa. The sea surface temperature is noted to be 29°C, with no warnings issued for the period.

The forecast details specific wind conditions and sea states across different coasts. On the west coast, the night will experience northwest winds at a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4, transitioning to slight sea conditions. By afternoon, winds may increase to 4 to 5, maintaining slight sea states. The south coast will see a similar pattern, with winds ranging from southwest to west overnight and increasing to 4 to 5 in the afternoon, with sea conditions ranging from smooth to slight. The east coast and north coast will also follow this trend, with varying wind directions but generally maintaining smooth to slight sea conditions throughout the period.
