Cyprus Weather Forecast Predicts Smooth to Slight Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, indicating mild weather conditions for the period from midday on January 7, 2026, to midday on January 8, 2026. The report highlights the presence of weak high pressure affecting the area, leading to increased medium and high cloud cover during the evening, tonight, and tomorrow morning. There is also dust in suspension, but visibility is expected to remain good.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast specifies that the winds will be measured on the Beaufort scale, with atmospheric pressure recorded at 1024 hPa at the time of issue. Sea surface temperatures are expected to be around 19°C. Notably, there are no weather warnings issued for this period.

The forecast for the west coast indicates that winds will be from the east to southeast at a force of 3 to 4, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight. During the night, these conditions will gradually shift to force 4, and by morning, the winds will occasionally reach a force of 4 to 5 offshore, resulting in slight sea conditions.

For the south coast, the afternoon will see northeasterly to southeasterly winds at force 3 to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea. At night, winds will change to a north to northeasterly direction at force 3, locally reaching 3 to 4, with similar sea conditions. By morning, winds will revert to a northeasterly to southeasterly direction at force 3 to 4, continuing the smooth to slight sea state.

The east coast will experience northeast to east winds at force 3 to 4 in the afternoon, with smooth to slight sea conditions. Overnight, the winds will shift to a northeasterly to southeasterly direction at force 3, maintaining smooth to slight conditions. By morning, the winds will increase slightly to force 3 to 4 from the northeast to southeast.

For the north coast, the afternoon will bring northeast to easterly winds at force 3 to 4, resulting in smooth to slight conditions. Overnight, the winds will gradually switch from northeast to southeast and then to east at force 4, with the sea state becoming slightly rougher. By morning, the winds will stabilize at northeast to east, with occasional offshore gusts reaching force 4 to 5, leading to slight sea conditions.
