Cyprus Weather Forecast Predicts Isolated Thunderstorms and Changing Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating that a weak low-pressure system is currently affecting the region. While the weather is expected to remain mainly fine, it will transition to partly cloudy conditions by tomorrow afternoon, leading to the development of local showers and isolated thunderstorms. According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility is anticipated to be good, although it may reduce to moderate or poor during showers. The sea surface temperature remains steady at 20°C. There are no warnings issued for this period. The forecast details specific conditions across different coasts of Cyprus. On the West Coast, morning winds will shift from Northeast to Southeast at a Beaufort scale of 3, changing to East to Southeast at 3 to 4 by the afternoon, and further transitioning to South to Southwest at 5 to 6 by night, with the sea moving from slight to moderate and ultimately to moderate to rough conditions. Similarly, the South Coast will experience Northwest to Northeast winds in the morning, becoming Southwest to West by afternoon and night. The wind intensity will increase from 3 to 5, with the sea state evolving from smooth to slight and then to moderate to rough. The East Coast will witness morning winds from Southwest to Northwest at a Beaufort scale of 3, which will shift to Southwest at 3 to 4 in the afternoon, and South to Southwest at 5 to 6 at night, with the sea conditions moving from slight to moderate. Lastly, the North Coast will have Southwest to West winds in the morning at 3 to 4, increasing by the afternoon and night, with slight to moderate sea conditions turning moderate to rough. This forecast covers the period from 0600 on December 30, 2025, until 0600 on December 31, 2025, for the area extending 8 kilometers seawards.
