Cyprus Weather Forecast Indicates Stable Sea Conditions with Localized Showers

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, predicting mainly fine weather with occasional localized cloud cover. For the period from midday on August 17, 2026, until the same time on August 18, 2026, the department forecasts a seasonal low pressure accompanied by an unstable air mass affecting the region. There is a risk of isolated showers in the east and southeast during the afternoon, along with local mist overnight and early in the morning, especially over the south and east.

According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility is expected to remain generally good, although it may be moderate to poor in regions experiencing mist. Sea surface temperatures are recorded at 29°C, and no warnings have been issued for the forecast period.

Examining the specific coastal areas, the West Coast is expected to experience slight winds ranging from Beaufort scale 3 to 4, with variations throughout the day. The South Coast will see slightly stronger winds, locally reaching Beaufort scale 5 in the afternoon, but calming to smooth conditions near the coast overnight. The East Coast will similarly experience slight winds, with minor fluctuations from afternoon to morning. Lastly, the North Coast will see winds varying between Beaufort scale 2 to 5, maintaining a slight state of sea throughout the forecast period.

These conditions suggest a stable maritime environment, with no significant disturbances expected, thereby offering ideal conditions for maritime activities around Cyprus.
