Cyprus Weather Forecast for Sea Areas Indicates Calm Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area of Cyprus for the period from 1800 on August 21, 2026, until 1800 on August 22, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and indicates generally calm weather conditions across the coastlines.

According to Cyprus News Agency, a seasonal low pressure is impacting the area, contributing to mostly clear weather with good visibility. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was measured at 1008 hPa. The sea surface temperature is reported to be a warm 29°C, and there are no warnings in effect for the forecast period.

For the west coast, wind conditions during the night are expected to be west to northwest at a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4, transitioning to northeast to east near the coast. In the morning, winds are forecasted to be southwest to west at 3, gradually increasing to 3 to 4. By afternoon, winds will shift to west to northwest at 4, locally reaching 5, with the sea state remaining slight.

On the south coast, night-time winds will be west to northwest at 3, becoming variable at 2 to 3, with sea conditions slight, moving to smooth to slight. Morning winds will be variable at 2 to 3, shifting to southwest to west at 3 to 4 by afternoon, with slight sea conditions anticipated.

For the east coast, the night will see west to northwest winds at 3, becoming variable at 2 to 3, with sea conditions ranging from smooth to slight. By morning, winds will shift from northeast to southeast at 2 to 3, later changing to southeast to south at 3. Afternoon winds are forecasted to be south to southwest at 3 to 4, with smooth to slight sea conditions.

The north coast will experience west to northwest winds at 3 to 4 during the night, transitioning to south to southwest near the coast. In the morning, southwest to west winds at 3, gradually increasing to 3 to 4, are expected. The afternoon will bring southwest to northwest winds at 4, locally 3 to 4, with slight sea conditions prevailing throughout the day.
