Cyprus Tops Medal Table at GSSE with 8 Golds and 22 Total Medals

Andorra: Cyprus holds on Tuesday the first place in the medals table at the Games of the Small States of Europe being held in Andorra, according to the rankings composed by the Cyprus Olympic Committee until 19.50 (Cyprus time).

According to Cyprus News Agency, Cyprus leads the table with 8 gold medals and a total of 22 medals. Specifically, gold medals were won in judo by Marina Azinou in the 57 kg category, Kyprianos Andreou in the 73 kg category, and Aristos Michael in the 100 kg category. In cycling, Andreas Miltiadis secured first place in the time trial, while Achilleas Sophocleous triumphed in the 10 m air rifle. In gymnastics, the men’s team program and Giorgos Aggonas in the individual all-around claimed top honors, along with Kalia Antoniou in swimming for the 100 m freestyle.

Moreover, silver medals were achieved by the men’s and women’s teams in table tennis. In karate, Irini Kontou competed in the Kumite -50Kg category, Andreas Gavriel in the Kumite -60 kg category, and Markos Tsaggaras in the Kumite -67 kg category. In judo, Odysseas Georgakis secured silver in the 81 kg category, and Michalis Isa­as achieved the same in artistic gymnastics in the individual all-around.

It is added that bronze medals were won in karate by Maria Kyprianou in the Kumite -55Kg category and Matthaios Stylianou in the Kumite +84Kg category. In judo, Diana Dimitriou competed in the 70Kg category, Georgios Kalaitzidis in the 66 kg category, Petros Kesov in the 81 kg category, Theocharis Karatsaousidis in the 90 kg category, and Alexandros Patiniotis in the 100 kg category. Agathi Manoli earned a bronze in swimming for the 200 m butterfly.
