Nicosia: By 2028 Cyprus will have a total of 53 Green Points, Environment Minister Christos Senekis said Thursday, during the inauguration ceremony of a new Green Point in Larnaka district. Senekis said that the new Larnaka infrastructure is expected to serve approximately 52,000 citizens of the Larnaka Municipality and 6,700 citizens who reside in Dromolaxia-Meneou Municipality.

According to Cyprus News Agency, figures indicate that the number of citizens who visited the Green Points in 2025 increased by 20% compared to 2024. Senekis mentioned that the new Greek Point was financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, with a total budget of 10 million euro. The construction of two more Green Points is underway in the districts of Nicosia and Famagusta, while a survey is being carried out for six more, four in Nicosia and two in Limassol.

It is estimated that by 2028 Cyprus will have 36 Large Green Points and 17 smaller ones. The Minister also stated that a network of 50 Green Kiosks is being set up, nine of which have already been installed in the district of Larnaka. The total installation cost amounted to 4 million euro. Senekis also noted that within the framework of the LIFE IP CYzero Waste project, the authorities will set up a network of Reuse Stores in existing and new Green Points, as well as two Repair and Reuse Centers.
