Cyprus to Bid 2025 Goodbye with Rain and Strong Winds

Nicosia: The weather forecast for the last days of 2025 in Cyprus includes local rain and thunderstorms, as well as a drop in temperature and strong winds from Sunday onwards, according to the Department of Meteorology. Meteorology Officer, Andreas Chrysanthou, also informed CNA that significant rain and thunderstorms are expected after Wednesday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, in the coming days, the weather will be cloudy later on Friday with isolated local rainfall and thunderstorms, while temperatures will remain higher than the seasonal average. On Saturday, the temperature will stay around 18 degrees inland, 20 degrees in coastal areas, and 8 degrees in the mountains. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy with potential rain, isolated thunderstorms, and the possibility of hail. Higher mountainous regions may experience snow or sleet.

Winds from the north-west to north will have an average strength of 4 degrees on the Beaufort scale, occasionally reaching up to 5 degrees, continuing until Tuesday, Chrysanthou mentioned. A temperature drop is anticipated on Sunday, accompanied by cloudy weather and isolated rain. The winds are expected to strengthen, particularly in the northern and western parts of Cyprus, reaching up to 6 degrees.

Isolated rain or a thunderstorm is predicted on Monday, primarily in the west, with the weather gradually improving. Cyprus will face a strong cold air front from the north-west, which will be more intense in the morning and gradually weaken by the afternoon. Snowfall or sleet may occur in the mountains.

Chrysanthou added that on Tuesday morning, the weather will be fair with sporadic clouds, turning mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Local rainfall and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated on Tuesday evening and early Wednesday, starting in the west and gradually moving to other areas. Snowfall is expected in the mountains. After the temperature drop on Sunday, no significant temperature changes are expected in the following days.
