Cyprus to Attend Board of Peace Meeting as Observer, Spokesperson Confirms

Nicosia: The Republic of Cyprus has accepted an invitation to participate with observer status in the upcoming Board of Peace meeting on Gaza, set to take place in Washington on February 19, 2026, as confirmed by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis to CNA. This participation aligns with Cyprus' ongoing regional role, engaging with international partners through initiatives and proposals. According to Cyprus News Agency, Letymbiotis emphasized Cyprus' unique position as the EU member state closest to the region, highlighting its involvement in efforts to promote stability and peace. The spokesperson also addressed queries regarding the meeting's agenda, which will focus on the next steps in implementing US President Trump's Plan. This plan, endorsed by the United Nations Security Council through Resolution 2803, outlines proposals currently under evaluation. Cyprus' involvement in the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit was also noted, where a relevant proposal for the Peace Plan's implementation was submitt ed by the Cypriot President. This proposal addressed the mechanism for executing the plan and its regional support dimensions. Letymbiotis indicated that the level of representation at the Board of Peace meeting will be finalized in coordination with the organizers.
