Cyprus Seeks Re-Election at IMO Council, Deputy Minister Attends London Meeting

London: Cyprus is vying for re-election to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Council, with Deputy Minister of Shipping, Marina Hadjimanolis, in the British capital to participate in the 34th General Assembly of the IMO. Hadjimanolis is set to address the assembly on 25 November 2025, as the country campaigns to secure a seat for the 2026-2027 term.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the Cyprus Deputy Ministry has confirmed that elections will take place during the IMO General Assembly to determine the new council members. Cyprus has declared its candidacy for re-election, aiming to continue its involvement in the organization’s decision-making processes. In celebration of their candidacy, Hadjimanolis will host a reception for attending delegations, fostering goodwill and strengthening diplomatic ties.

Beyond the assembly, Hadjimanolis plans to engage in a series of bilateral discussions with her international counterparts. Her schedule also includes a meeting with the IMO General Secretary, highlighting Cyprus’ commitment to active participation in maritime affairs on a global stage.
