Nicosia: The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has reported a 1.12% increase in the number of entities it supervises, rising to 815 as of June 2026. This growth underscores the ongoing interest in Cyprus's capital markets, as 63 new licence applications are currently under review.

According to Cyprus News Agency, CySEC's recent review highlights significant achievements and efforts between 2021 and 2026, aiming to create a competitive and reliable supervisory environment. In terms of legislative developments, Cyprus has implemented frameworks for Crowdfunding Service Providers and Pan-European Personal Pension Products, among others. The Authority for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) began operations in 2025, with CySEC actively participating.

Technological achievements include the launch of the Central Trust Register system and an Enterprise Risk Management Framework. In 2024, CySEC introduced a Regulatory Sandbox to engage with innovative financial solutions.

The conclusion of Cyprus's Presidency of the Council of the European Union marked a significant milestone, showcasing the expertise and substantial contribution of CySEC to the European regulatory framework.
