Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its latest forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, projecting weak low pressure affecting the region. The forecast, which covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, predicts mainly fine weather with occasional local cloud coverage. According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast's release was recorded at 1013 hPa (hectopascal). Winds are expected to vary between 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale across different coastal areas, with the sea state ranging from smooth to slight. The sea surface temperature is anticipated to remain steady at 28°C, with no warnings currently issued for the period. For the West Coast, morning winds are predicted to be from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, shifting locally from northwest to north. In the afternoon, winds will transition from west to northwest, maintaining the same intensity, while at night they will gradually shift from northwest to north. The South Coast is expected to experience variable morning winds at 3, gradually changing to southeast to southwest at 3 to 4. Afternoon winds will strengthen to 4 from the south to southwest, reaching locally up to 5, before easing off during the night. East Coast conditions will start with west to northwest winds in the morning, transitioning to southeast to southwest. By afternoon, winds will increase to 4 to 5 from the south to southwest. At night, they will shift to west to northwest. Finally, the North Coast will see morning winds from southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, with a smooth to slight sea state. Afternoon conditions will remain similar, and by night, winds are expected to shift to southwest to west, then gradually to southeast to southwest. The forecast indicates good visibility throughout the period, ensuring favorable conditions for maritime activities around Cyprus.
