Cyprus Sea Area Weather Forecast Indicates Stable Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, detailing weather conditions expected between 1800 on January 5, 2026, and 1800 on January 6, 2026. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards and indicates that high pressure is affecting the region, resulting in mainly fine weather with some increased high cloud coverage. Visibility is expected to be good, with no warnings issued.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast's issuance was recorded at 1022 hPa. Sea surface temperatures are expected to remain at 19°C. The forecast provides a detailed breakdown of wind patterns and the state of the sea across different coastal regions of Cyprus.

For the west coast, winds during the night will be from the northeast to east at a Beaufort scale of 3, occasionally reaching 3 to 4 locally. The state of the sea will be slight. In the morning, winds are expected to shift from northeast to east at 3 to 4, gradually changing to east to southeast, with the sea remaining slight. In the afternoon, winds will further increase to east to southeast at 3 to 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, while the sea state remains slight.

The south coast will experience north to northeast winds at 3 to 4 during the night, with offshore winds reaching northeast 4, resulting in a slight to moderate sea state offshore. Morning winds will be from the northeast to east at 3 to 4, with a slight sea state. By afternoon, winds will increase to northeast to east at 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with a slight to moderate sea state.

For the east coast, night winds will be north to northeast at 3 to 4, locally reaching 4, resulting in a slight to moderate sea state. Morning winds will maintain a north to northeast direction at 3 to 4, gradually shifting to northeast to east at 4, with the sea state remaining slight to moderate. In the afternoon, winds will strengthen to northeast to east at 4 to 5, locally reaching 5, with a moderate sea state.

Finally, the north coast will experience northeast to east winds at 3 to 4 during the night, with offshore winds reaching 4, resulting in a slight to moderate sea state offshore. Morning winds will remain northeast to east at 3 to 4, with offshore winds at 4, and a similar sea state. Afternoon conditions will see winds increase to northeast to east at 4, locally reaching 4 to 5, with a slight to moderate sea state.
