Cyprus Sea Area Weather Forecast Highlights Moderate Winds and Slight Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a detailed weather forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, effective from midday January 29, 2026, to midday January 30, 2026. The forecast, which covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, indicates varying wind conditions and sea states across different coastal regions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, an extended barometric low centered over South Italy is moving eastwards, influencing the central and eastern Mediterranean regions. This weather pattern is causing dust suspension, which may reduce visibility during showers. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issue was recorded at 1017 hPa, with the sea surface temperature noted at 18°C.

For the west coast of Cyprus, winds are expected to shift from southeast to southwest, ranging from 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, resulting in slight to moderate sea conditions in the afternoon and night. By morning, the winds will decrease to 3 to 4, maintaining slight to moderate sea states.

The south coast will experience south to southwest winds of 4 to 5 Beaufort in the afternoon and night, leading to slight to moderate and moderate sea conditions, respectively. In the morning, winds will reduce to 3 to 4 Beaufort, resulting in slight sea conditions.

On the east coast, the forecast predicts south to southwest winds ranging from 3 to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon, creating slight sea conditions. During the night, winds will increase to 4 to 5 Beaufort, resulting in moderate seas, before settling back to 3 to 4 Beaufort and maintaining slight conditions by morning.

The north coast will see southeast to southwest winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort in the afternoon, with slight to moderate sea states. Nighttime winds will shift to south to southwest at 4 Beaufort, with moderate conditions, reverting to 3 to 4 Beaufort by morning with slight to moderate seas.

Overall, the forecast indicates no warnings, suggesting relatively calm sea conditions across the region during this period.
