Cyprus Sea Area Forecast Highlights Moderate Winds and Clear Skies

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued the latest forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, covering an 8-kilometer range seaward. The forecast period extends from midday on September 19, 2025, to midday on September 20, 2025. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the report stood at 1012 hPa, with a seasonal low pressure impacting the region.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the weather is expected to remain predominantly fine, although certain areas may experience increased cloud coverage at times. Visibility is predicted to be good throughout the forecast period, and the sea surface temperature is recorded at 28°C. There are no warnings in place for the area at this time.

For the West Coast, the afternoon will bring winds from the southeast to southwest at a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4, transitioning locally to northwest to northeast at scale 4. The sea state will be slight to moderate. During the night, winds will shift to north to northeast at a scale of 3 to 4, increasing offshore to 4 to 5, with a slight sea state, transitioning offshore to slight to moderate. By morning, winds are expected from the northeast to east at a scale of 3 to 4, gradually shifting locally to west to northwest, with a slight sea state.

On the South Coast, the afternoon forecast predicts north to northeast winds at a scale of 4 to 5, occasionally reaching northeast to east at 5 to 6. The sea state will range from slight to moderate, with some areas experiencing moderate conditions. Nighttime will see winds from northwest to northeast at a scale of 4 to 5, with offshore areas reaching scale 5, maintaining a slight sea state, transitioning offshore to slight to moderate. In the morning, winds will shift north to northeast at a scale of 4 to 5, gradually moving to northeast to east, with a slight sea state that will gradually become slight to moderate.

For the East Coast, afternoon winds will be north to northeast at a scale of 4 to 5, occasionally reaching 5 to 6, with a moderate sea state. At night, winds from the north to northeast at a scale of 4 to 5, occasionally reaching scale 5, will result in a slight to moderate sea state, with some areas experiencing moderate conditions. By morning, winds will persist from the north to northeast at a scale of 4 to 5, with some areas reaching scale 5, maintaining a moderate sea state.

On the North Coast, the afternoon will bring northeast to east winds at a scale of 4 to 5, gradually shifting to north to northeast at scale 4, resulting in a moderate sea state. At night, winds will be from the north to northeast at a scale of 3 to 4, with some areas experiencing northeast to east winds at 4 to 5, creating a slight to moderate sea state, with some areas experiencing moderate conditions. By morning, winds will be from the northeast to east at a scale of 4 to 5, with some areas reaching scale 5, maintaining a slight to moderate sea state, with some areas experiencing moderate conditions.
