Cyprus Reinforces Commitment to EU on 21st Accession Anniversary

Nicosia: Cyprus remains focused on further strengthening the EU, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on X today, Thursday, on the 21st anniversary of the country’s accession to the Union.

According to Cyprus News Agency, on 1st May 2004, Cyprus became a member of the European Union.

‘Twenty one years on, our commitment to the European project remains steadfast. Cyprus is actively preparing to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026’, it is noted.

‘We remain focused on further strengthening the EU, guided by our commitment to our common principles and values’, the ministry concluded.
