Cyprus Records Higher Daily Tobacco Use Than EU Average, Eurostat Reports

Nicosia: In Cyprus, 22.6% of people aged 16 and over used tobacco and related products on a daily basis in 2025, according to data published by Eurostat on Wednesday. Cyprus's share was higher than the EU average, which stood at 16.5%. Compared with 2022, when the corresponding figure in Cyprus was 23.3%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points was recorded.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the products covered include tobacco and related products, such as e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco products. In Cyprus, 32.3% of men aged 16 and over used tobacco and related products daily in 2025, while the corresponding share among women stood at 13.3%.

The majority of people in the EU, representing 77.5%, did not use such products or had not used them during the 12 months preceding the data collection. The data show that, across the EU, 20.8% of men used tobacco and related products daily, compared with 12.6% of women.
