Nicosia: The Republic of Cyprus has extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the countries that have responded to its call for assistance in combating the extensive fires currently affecting the region, according to a statement made by the Government Spokesman on ‘X’.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Government Spokesman highlighted the ongoing efforts, noting that both primary and secondary aircraft are in action, working in coordination with ground forces to bolster the firefighting efforts. The statement confirmed the arrival and operations of four aircraft from Jordan and two from Egypt on Cypriot soil.
Furthermore, the assistance has been amplified by a helicopter from the British Bases, alongside additional aircraft secured from various countries. Two aircraft from Israel, two from Spain, and two helicopters from Lebanon have joined the efforts. Additionally, Greece is contributing by sending 26 forest rangers to aid in the firefighting operations.
The Government Spokesman conveyed Cyprus’s sincere appreciation to the governments and crews of these countries for their active participation in the collective mission to safeguard human lives, the environment, and citizens’ properties.
