Copenhagen: Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, is set to take part in the informal European Council in Copenhagen on October 1 and 2, where he will engage in multiple high-level meetings with notable leaders, including Switzerland’s President, the NATO Secretary-General, and Denmark’s Prime Minister.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Director of the President’s Press Office, Viktoras Papadopoulos, released a written statement detailing that President Christodoulides will join the Council meeting focused on EU Security and Defence on the afternoon of October 1. He will also participate in discussions centered on the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
In the evening, the President is scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by the Danish royal couple, honoring the leaders involved in the European Political Community. The following day, October 2, will see President Christodoulides taking part in the Plenary of the European Political Community, engaging in debates regarding economic security.
Further, President Christodoulides is set to conduct individual bilateral meetings with various leaders, including the President of Switzerland, Karin Keller-Sutter, NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and Albert II, Prince of Monaco. He will then participate in the closing proceedings of the Plenary.
On the morning of Friday, October 3, President Christodoulides is slated to meet with Denmark’s Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, followed by expanded discussions between the delegations of Cyprus and Denmark. The President’s delegation to Copenhagen will include the Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, the Director of the Presidential Press Office, and other officials.
