Nicosia: Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, on Thursday reiterated the Republic of Cyprus’ steadfast support for Ukraine during a video conference of the states participating in the ‘Coalition of the Willing’, on efforts to support Ukraine.
According to Cyprus News Agency, President Christodoulides participated in a video conference of the states participating in the ‘Coalition of the Willing’, which was co-organised by UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, France’s President, Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, with the participation of Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, and which was also attended by a number of heads of state and heads of international organisations.
‘The purpose of the video conference was efforts to support Ukraine and coordinate towards achieving a permanent ceasefire’, it is reported.
During the teleconference, it adds, ‘President Christodoulides reiterated the steadfast support of the Republic of Cyprus to Ukraine’, underlining the feeling of so
lidarity that stems from Cyprus’ own experience ‘as a victim of invasion and illegal occupation.’
The President of the Republic reaffirmed the steadfast support of the Republic of Cyprus to the international community’s efforts to defend Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, the statement concludes.
