Cyprus Presidency Backs Europe’s Strategic Autonomy, Says French Ambassador

Nicosia: Europe needs its strategic autonomy and the Cyprus Presidency is supporting this point of view, said Cl©lia Chevrier Kolacko, Ambassador of France to Cyprus, in her statements during the French-Cypriot School's open day in Nicosia on Saturday.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the French Ambassador expressed her satisfaction with the students' results at the French-Cypriot School and highlighted the mobility and study opportunities available through the school's global network. Speaking in Greek, she explained that the school accepts children from the age of 2 years up to the French Baccalaureate and Cypriot Apolytirion levels, and is recognized by the Ministries of Education of France and Cyprus.

She added that the school hosts children from 40 countries where they learn French, Greek, and English, as well as either German or Spanish. 'After the school, the students can study around the world at top universities. This school is part of the network of French schools worldwide. Welcome!' she noted.

When asked about the school's trajectory in recent years, the French diplomat said the school is thriving, with many new students in both Nicosia and Limassol. 'We are very proud of it. For Baccalaur©at and Apolytirion, we have 100% good results and 80% of the students are above average,' she added.

Discussing the school's future plans, she stated that the Embassy aims for the school's development. 'In Limassol, we are just beginning the development, so we think the future is really bright. We also have this evolution in the network of all the French schools, which is a very good opportunity for kids to go all over the world. Not just for their studies, but also during their time here in the school, they can meet with other children and participate in activities like youth games, choirs, and orchestra. They can travel the world, and I think it's a really good experience for them,' she noted.

When asked to comment on the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, whose work has just started, the French Ambassador expressed that the presidency is a very good opportunity for Cyprus to share its experience and values, with France offering its support. 'We share the same objective for Europe. Europe needs its strategic autonomy and this presidency is supporting this point of view and it is really important,' she concluded.
