Cyprus Prepares for Cloudy Weather and Dusty Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, predicting mainly cloudy weather with isolated showers or thunderstorms expected to affect the region. A weak low-pressure system is currently influencing the area, and atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1011 hPa.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast covers the period from noon on February 11, 2026, to noon the following day. The area under observation extends 8 kilometers seawards, with winds measured using the Beaufort scale. The forecast indicates that the visibility will generally remain good but may become moderate to poor during showers. Sea surface temperatures are noted to be around 18°C, and there are no warnings in effect.

The wind and sea conditions are expected to vary across different coasts of Cyprus. On the West Coast, afternoon winds will come from the west to northwest at Beaufort scale 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5, with the sea state being slight to moderate. Similar conditions are predicted for the night and morning, with slight variations in wind direction and strength.

South Coast conditions are expected to include southwest winds at Beaufort scale 4, occasionally reaching 5, and a slight to moderate sea state in both afternoon and night hours. The East Coast will experience southwest winds at Beaufort scale 4, with offshore wind reaching 5 at times. The sea state is expected to be slight, occasionally becoming slight to moderate offshore.

On the North Coast, afternoon winds will shift from southwest to west at Beaufort scale 4 and offshore 5, with the sea state remaining slight to moderate offshore. The night and morning will see south to southwest winds, occasionally reaching 5 offshore, maintaining a slight to moderate sea state.

Overall, Cyprus is advised to prepare for localized weather disturbances and potential dust in suspension tomorrow, which may affect visibility and air quality.
