Nicosia: Negotiator of the Greek Cypriot side, Menelaos Menelaou, and the representative of the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Dana, met Thursday to discuss the resumption of their regular meetings following the holidays' recess.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the two negotiators assessed the current situation in light of upcoming announcements from the United Nations Secretary-General concerning his next steps on Cyprus.
UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Cyprus, Khassim Diagne, is expected to brief the UN Security Council on the 15th of the month. The briefing will cover new reports regarding the Secretary-General's Good Offices for Cyprus and the UNFICYP mandate. Moreover, on January 29, the Security Council is set to vote on the renewal of the UNFICYP mandate for another year.
