Cyprus Meteorology Department Issues Heat Warnings for Early Week

Nicosia: Cyprus’ meteorology department has issued two significant warnings concerning high temperatures expected early this week. The department has flagged a yellow warning for Monday evening and an orange warning for Tuesday, highlighting the potential for extreme heat conditions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the yellow warning is in effect from 2200 on Monday until 0900 on Tuesday. During this period, inland and coastal areas are expected to experience minimum temperatures around 26 degrees Celsius, while higher mountainous areas are likely to see temperatures drop to around 24 degrees Celsius.

The orange warning, which is set for Tuesday between 1100 and 1700, forecasts a sharp rise in temperatures. Inland areas are expected to see maximum temperatures soar to around 43 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the higher mountainous regions are likely to experience temperatures reaching approximately 34 degrees Celsius.

These warnings highlight the importance of precautionary measures to mitigate the impacts of the heat, particularly for vulnerable populations and those engaged in outdoor activities.
