Cyprus Meteorological Department Issues Sea Area Forecast for August 6-7, 2026

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area of Cyprus, covering a period from the evening of August 6, 2026, to the evening of August 7, 2026. The forecast extends 8 kilometers seawards and is presented in local times, with wind speeds measured on the Beaufort scale. Atmospheric conditions are characterized by a seasonal low pressure of 1005 hPa affecting the area.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the weather is expected to be mainly fine, though there will be periods of locally increased low cloud coverage during the night and morning, which could lead to the formation of mist and possibly fog patches, affecting visibility. While visibility is generally good, it may reduce to moderate-to-poor levels in mist and very poor in fog. Sea surface temperatures are recorded at 29°C, and there are no warnings in effect.

For the West Coast, the night will see northwest winds ranging from 3 to 4 Beaufort, transitioning near the coast to northwest to northeast at 3 Beaufort, with sea conditions ranging from slight to smooth. Morning winds will shift southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with variable conditions near the coast, maintaining smooth to slight seas. By afternoon, winds will shift southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with occasional increases to 5 Beaufort locally, continuing with slight sea conditions.

On the South Coast, nighttime winds will be southwest to west at 3 to 4 Beaufort, shifting near the coast to northwest to northeast at 3 Beaufort, with sea states gradually changing from slight to smooth. Morning conditions will see south to southwest winds at 4 Beaufort, starting variable at 3 Beaufort, with smooth to slight seas. Afternoon winds will increase southwest to west at 4 to 5 Beaufort, with some areas experiencing 5 Beaufort, while maintaining slight seas.

The East Coast will experience southwest winds at 3 Beaufort during the night, transitioning to southwest to northwest, with smooth to slight sea states. In the morning, southeast to south winds will reach 3 to 4 Beaufort, starting variable at 3 Beaufort, with smooth to slight seas. Afternoon conditions will bring south to southwest winds at 4 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort, with smooth to slight seas.

On the North Coast, nighttime winds will vary from south to southwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, transitioning near the coast to southeast to southwest at 3 Beaufort, resulting in slight sea states, gradually changing to smooth near the coast. By morning, southeast to southwest winds will reach 3 to 4 Beaufort, later shifting southwest to northwest, with smooth to slight seas. Afternoon winds will be southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally increasing to 4 to 5 Beaufort locally, maintaining slight seas.
