Cyprus Medical Association Condemns Recognition of Turkish Cypriot Groups by European Medical Body

Nicosia: The Cyprus Medical Association (CyMA) has strongly condemned the recognition of trade union organizations from the Turkish Cypriot puppet regime by a European medical body, asserting that these groups are being unlawfully portrayed as representatives of Cyprus.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the controversy centers around the F©d©ration Europ©enne des M©decins Salari©s (FEMS), which has accepted trade union organizations from the occupied areas of Cyprus as representatives of the island nation. The association has also criticized FEMS for displaying the emblem of the pseudo-state on its website, which they argue distorts international law and order.

The Cyprus Medical Association has opted not to participate in FEMS as a form of protest. The association emphasized its firm opposition through a formal protest concerning a recent FEMS questionnaire that referred to Cyprus as ‘Kibris.’ This protest has been supported by the Panhellenic Medical Association and the Athens Medical Association, who are advocating for the restoration of international law and order.

The CyMA highlighted that there has been a systematic effort by the pseudo-state to gain indirect recognition in international and professional forums. This ongoing issue requires urgent and decisive action, as it undermines the legal and territorial integrity of Cyprus.

The association also expressed gratitude to the Panhellenic Medical Association and the Athens Medical Association for their unwavering support in defending national and professional interests. Cyprus has been divided since 1974 following an invasion by Turkish forces, which led to the occupation of 37% of its territory.

The United Nations Security Council resolutions 541 and 550 condemned the declaration of the ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ as legally invalid and called for its immediate withdrawal. Resolution 550 further urged all states not to recognize or assist the secessionist entity in any manner.
