Nicosia: Cyprus Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou is travelling to Luxembourg to preside over the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) focused on housing issues, a significant event within the framework of the Cyprus EU Presidency. EU Ministers are expected to adopt the first Council Conclusions on affordable housing, marking an important milestone for European cooperation in this area.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Conclusions emphasize the need to formulate housing policies that respond to demographic, social, and economic changes, respecting the principle of subsidiarity. The document also highlights the necessity to further strengthen cooperation between EU countries in exchanging knowledge and best practices.
The Council will engage in a policy debate on housing security for students and middle-income households. Ministers will exchange views on common challenges faced by EU member states and evaluate policy approaches that can enhance access to quality, safe, and affordable housing.
