Cyprus Hosts Seminar for Francophone Island States on Digital Inclusion

Protaras:Forty representatives from 11 small island states in the French-speaking world participated in an international seminar in Protaras from October 20 to 23, 2026. The event was hosted by Cyprus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the seminar welcomed participants from diverse regions, including Africa, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. The focus was on inclusion, Francophone island societies, and the potential of digital technologies.

The seminar provided a platform for participants to share experiences and discuss common challenges faced by island states. It also explored the potential of digital technologies, particularly in education and inclusion.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Directorate for the Teaching and Learning of the French Language (DEAF) of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) and supported by CyprusAid. This initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Cyprus and the OIF, of which Cyprus has been a full member since October 2024, and to implement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' development policy.
