Nicosia:The country has reported the lowest percentage of teachers under the age of 30 in the European Union for 2024, with only 3.1%, as detailed by Eurostat.
According to Cyprus News Agency, Portugal and Poland also have low percentages, with 3.3% and 4.0%, respectively. Conversely, Luxembourg leads with the highest percentage of young teachers at 15.3%, followed closely by Denmark at 15.2%, Belgium at 14.9%, and Austria at 14.6%.
In 2024, Eurostat data revealed that there were a total of 5.30 million teachers employed in primary and secondary schools throughout the EU, marking an increase of 36,500 from the previous year, 2023. Additionally, women represented a significant majority of the teaching workforce at 72.9%, with men comprising 27.1%.
