Nicosia: Cyprus is set to make history with its participation in the 18th European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, sending its largest-ever delegation of 46 young athletes to compete from July 20 to 26, 2025. The athletes will showcase their talents across nine sports disciplines, marking a significant milestone for the Cyprus Olympic Committee.
According to Cyprus News Agency, this landmark participation was officially announced at a press conference held at the House of the Olympic Committee in Nicosia. The festival’s competition schedule is set to begin on Monday, July 21, and will conclude on Saturday, July 26, with Cyprus athletes competing in Artistic Gymnastics, Table Tennis, Swimming, Badminton, Road Cycling, Mountain Biking, Shooting, Athletics, Taekwondo, and Judo. It is noteworthy that the gymnastics events will take place in Osijek, Croatia, separate from the main venue in Skopje.
During the press conference, Yiotis Ioannides, Secretary General of the Cyprus Olympic Committee, addressed the audience, emphasizing the committee’s guiding philosophy. He highlighted that while distinction is not the ultimate goal, the focus is on providing young athletes with opportunities for experience, growth, and development. Ioannides expressed confidence that the delegation would bring pride to Cyprus, not only through their performances but also through their exemplary conduct and sportsmanship.
