Cyprus’ FM Calls for Ceasefire and De-escalation in Talks with Israel and Lebanon

Cyprus: Cyprus' Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos on Wednesday emphasized the necessity of full ceasefire implementation and immediate de-escalation in separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Israel and Lebanon. According to Cyprus News Agency, Kombos shared on X about his discussion with Israel's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Saar. The conversation focused on the recently announced ceasefire, highlighting its potential to foster comprehensive dialogue and effective diplomacy. Kombos underscored the critical need for full implementation of the ceasefire and achieving sustained de-escalation across the region, including Lebanon, by all parties involved. In another post, Kombos detailed his call with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, reiterating the urgent need for immediate de-escalation by all parties and the importance of protecting civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law. He reaffirmed Cyprus' consistent stance on Lebanon, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the region.
