Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, predicting mainly fine weather but with some variations due to seasonal low pressure. This pressure system is expected to influence the area from noon on June 28, 2026, until noon the following day, covering an area 8 kilometers seawards.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the forecast indicates that while the weather will generally be fine, there is a likelihood of locally increased low cloud coverage later tonight and during dawn. This could result in local mist and/or fog patches, particularly over the southern and southeastern coastal areas. Visibility, which is generally good, could become moderate to poor in mist and very poor in fog conditions.
The sea surface temperature is reported at 25°C, with no warnings issued for the period. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast was 1010 hPa. The state of the sea across various coasts of Cyprus is expected to be smooth to slight, with winds predicted on the Beaufort scale.
For the west coast, winds will shift from southeast to southwest in the afternoon, moving to northwest to northeast at night, and return to northeast to southeast in the morning. The south coast will experience southeast to southwest winds in the afternoon, shifting to southwest to northwest at night, and northeast to southeast in the morning. On the east coast, winds will range from northeast to southeast in the afternoon, moving to southwest to northwest at night, and northwest to northeast in the morning. The north coast will have northwest to northeast winds in the afternoon, changing to southeast to southwest at night, and variable winds in the morning.
