Cyprus Experiences Seasonal Low Pressure Affecting Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating the influence of a seasonal low-pressure system. During the period from 1200 on July 13, 2026, to 1200 on July 14, 2026, the weather is expected to remain primarily fine. However, there will be instances of locally increased low cloud coverage overnight and in the early morning, leading to potential mist and fog patches.

According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility in the region is anticipated to be generally good but may become moderate to poor in misty conditions and very poor in areas affected by fog. Despite these conditions, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology has not issued any warnings for the area. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 27°C, with smooth to slight sea conditions expected across various coastal areas.

For the west coast, afternoon winds will range from southwest to northwest at a Beaufort scale of 3 to 4, occasionally reaching 4 to 5 locally, resulting in smooth to slight sea states. Overnight, winds are expected to shift to northwest to northeast near the coast, maintaining similar sea conditions. By morning, southwest to south winds will prevail, with variable conditions at first.

On the south coast, afternoon winds will transition from southwest to west, potentially increasing locally to 5 to 6, while maintaining smooth to slight sea states. Overnight, the winds will moderate slightly, and by morning, they will range from southwest to west, gradually shifting to south to southwest.

The east coast will see southwest winds at 4 to 5 in the afternoon, with occasional local increases, leading to smooth to slight sea conditions. Overnight, winds will shift between southwest and northwest, easing to 3 to 4. By morning, the winds will settle between south and southwest.

For the north coast, afternoon winds will initially be southwest to northwest at 4, with occasional local increases to 5, maintaining smooth to slight conditions. Overnight, southeast to southwest winds will dominate, easing to 3 to 4 near the coast. By morning, southwest to northwest winds will persist, with some local increases expected.
