Nicosia: The Cyprus Presidency of the EU highlighted Cyprus' distinctive geopolitical role as a bridge between the European Union, the Middle East, and the wider region, the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus said in a post on Monday.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the Presidency emphasized Cyprus' role as an honest broker among the 27 Member States, demonstrating through consistency, credibility, and a commitment to the common European interest that a country's size does not determine its potential influence within the European Union. The statement was accompanied by a spot showcasing key moments during the presidency.
It was noted that Cyprus' EU Presidency coincided with a period of unprecedented geopolitical uncertainty and major challenges for Europe. During this time, Cyprus was tasked with addressing complex issues, promoting solutions, and contributing to critical decision-making among the Member States.
The Cyprus Presidency further asserted that it placed Cyprus at the center of European affairs, strengthening the credibility and political capital of the Republic of Cyprus, and enhancing the country's position at both European and international levels.
Additionally, the statement reiterated Cyprus' distinctive geopolitical role as a bridge between the European Union, the Middle East, and the wider region. Cyprus held the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2026.
