Cyprus: Cyprus delivered tangible and measurable results during its Presidency of the Council of the EU by advancing key European dossiers and securing major agreements across a range of sectors, the Presidency of the Republic said in a post on X.
According to Cyprus News Agency, upon assuming the Presidency, the Republic of Cyprus set a clear objective: 'A more autonomous Europe, open to the world.' Key European dossiers were advanced, some of which had been pending for years, while major agreements were reached on defence and security, competitiveness, enlargement, migration, and energy.
The Presidency stated that these achievements reflect the scope of the work carried out methodically and consistently throughout Cyprus' six-month term at the helm of the Council of the EU. It described this as a national effort that was a source of pride for the country and highlighted Cyprus' role and ability to contribute actively to shaping Europe's common future.
The Presidency added that the effort was recognised by all of Cyprus' partners and the European institutions. The Republic of Cyprus held the Presidency of the Council of the EU for a six-month term in the first half of 2026, as part of a Trio Presidency, along with Poland and Denmark.
