Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation Releases Comprehensive Labour Relations Handbooks in English

Nicosia: The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has announced the publication of the “Labour Relations Officer’s Handbooks,” a seven-volume series available in English. This series marks the first comprehensive guide on Cypriot labour law and practice published in English and is part of the ‘Development Pillars’ project, co-funded by the European Union under the framework of the Cohesion Policy Programme ‘THALEIA 2021-2027’.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the series is fully updated up to December 31, 2024, and covers the entire span of the Cypriot labour legal framework in an accessible format. The handbooks address various topics, including essential labour legislation, termination of employment, social insurance, labour disputes resolution, health and safety at work, equality in employment and sexual harassment, and labour policies and good practices.

The handbooks provide summaries of key labour laws, including maternity and paternity protection, annual leave, and working time organization. They also include numerous caselaw examples for better understanding. The series delves into the Cypriot social security system, explaining basic concepts, eligibility criteria, and the determination of various benefits and pensions.

Additionally, the handbooks cover procedures in the Industrial Relations Code and the Agreement for the Resolution of Disputes in Essential Services. They include provisions found in collective agreements and legislation governing health and safety at work. Issues of equality, discrimination, and combating sexual harassment in employment are also addressed. Furthermore, the series offers a collection of good practices and policies for the workplace, including Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and various work-related policies.

Both digital and print editions of the handbooks are available free of charge. The digital edition can be downloaded from the project’s website at www.oebpillars.com.cy. Print editions will be available from April 9th onwards, without reservation and while stocks last, directly from OEB’s headquarters in Nicosia.
