Nicosia: Deputy Minister of Social Welfare of the Republic of Cyprus, Clea Hadjistephanou-Papaellina, will travel to Luxembourg to chair the social policy session of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) on Monday. This event is part of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting will involve ministers exchanging views on the European Commission's Social Package. The discussions will center around the rollout of the first European Anti-Poverty Strategy and explore ways to ensure its effective implementation.
Hadjistephanou-Papaellina is set to outline the Cyprus Presidency's significant achievements in social policy. She will highlight the key ministerial conferences and high-level events organized during its six-month term.
The meeting will focus on the priorities promoted by the Cyprus Presidency, which include addressing poverty, particularly child poverty, ensuring children's well-being, promoting active ageing, and providing access to quality long-term care services. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on strengthening the inclusion and equal participation of persons with disabilities.
