Cyprus Coastal Weather Forecast Predicts Calm Seas and Mild Winds

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released its forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, predicting mainly fine weather with some low cloud cover over coastal areas for the period from 1200 hours on July 19, 2026, to 1200 hours on July 20, 2026. The forecast, covering an area 8 kilometers seawards, indicates a seasonal low-pressure system influencing the region's weather conditions.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the atmospheric pressure at the time of issue was recorded at 1008 hPa. The weather is expected to be predominantly clear, though there is a risk of local mist or fog patches forming over the south and east during the early dawn hours. Visibility is anticipated to remain good but may reduce to moderate or poor in misty conditions, and very poor during fog.

The sea surface temperature is reported to be 27°C, with no warnings issued for the area. The forecast details specific wind patterns and sea states for various coastal regions:

- West Coast: Afternoon winds will blow from the southwest to northwest at Beaufort scale 3 to 4, with local increases to 4, creating a smooth to slight sea state. At night, winds will shift to northwest to northeast at 3, with local variations initially at west to northwest 4. By morning, winds will be southwest to northwest at 3, gradually moving west at 3 to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea.

- South Coast: Afternoon winds are expected from the southwest to west at 4, locally reaching 5, resulting in a smooth to slight sea, occasionally slight. At night, winds will shift to southwest to northwest at 3, later becoming variable. By morning, winds will be variable at 3, gradually changing to south to southwest at 3 to 4, with smooth to slight sea conditions.

- East Coast: Afternoon winds will be from the south to southwest at 4, with local variations to 4 to 5, producing a smooth to slight sea. During the night, winds will shift to southwest to northwest at 3. By morning, winds will be southwest to northwest at 3, gradually changing to southeast to southwest at 3 to 4, with the sea remaining smooth to slight.

- North Coast: Afternoon winds will vary from southwest to northwest at 3 to 4, locally reaching 4, resulting in a smooth to slight sea. Overnight, winds will be southwest to west at 3 to 4, gradually shifting to southeast to southwest at 3. By morning, winds will be southwest to northwest at 3, increasing to 3 to 4, maintaining a smooth to slight sea state.
