Limassol: The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) recently participated in the official kick-off meeting of the SUSTAINET project, held on May 20 and 21, 2025, at the University of Limassol. This meeting marked the beginning of a significant initiative designed to empower Local Government and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) by establishing a Network of Green Business Innovation Centres (GBICs). The project aims to enhance sustainable economic growth and facilitate the green transition.
According to Cyprus News Agency, SUSTAINET is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme. It provides tools to improve environmental performance and fosters knowledge exchange through a European network, promoting green business innovation and training at both local and international levels.
During the meeting, the CCCI highlighted its pivotal role in the project, emphasizing its commitment to guiding Cypriot businesses in adopting sustainable practices. As a core partner, the CCCI will play a crucial role in developing and disseminating practical tools, resources, and best practices that support the implementation of sustainability standards across various sectors.
Representatives of the Chamber stated, “This project represents an important step forward in our shared efforts to foster a more sustainable business ecosystem. We are committed to building on the outcomes of this meeting and look forward to productive collaboration with our partners.”
