Cyprus Braces for Weak Low Pressure and Local Showers

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has released a forecast indicating that a weak low-pressure system will influence the sea area around Cyprus. Beginning overnight, local showers are expected to develop over the west and north, with the potential for thunderstorms affecting other areas by tomorrow.

According to Cyprus News Agency, atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1014 hPa. The forecast covers an area extending 8 kilometers seawards, with the wind measured on the Beaufort scale and local times being used. The sea surface temperature is currently 18°C, and visibility is generally good, although it may reduce to moderate or poor during showers. No warnings have been issued for the region.

The forecast details the expected wind and sea conditions for various coastal areas around Cyprus. On the west coast, winds from the east to southeast are predicted to maintain a slight to moderate state of sea throughout the night and into the afternoon. Similarly, the south coast will experience northeast to east winds that are expected to maintain slight sea conditions. The east coast will see northeast to east winds, with conditions ranging from slight to moderate, becoming gradually slight in some areas. Lastly, the north coast will have northeast to southeast winds with the sea state fluctuating between slight to moderate and moderate at different times.
