Cyprus Braces for Unstable Weather in Coastal Areas

Nicosia: Seasonal low pressure and unstable weather conditions are set to impact the sea area surrounding Cyprus, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology announced. The forecast, covering an 8-kilometer area seawards, predicts varying wind conditions and states of the sea from the evening of July 6 until the evening of July 7, 2026.

According to Cyprus News Agency, the coastal regions will experience mainly fine weather, though there will be periods of increased low cloud coverage. During the night and early morning hours, local mist and fog patches are likely, especially over the eastern coast. The visibility in affected areas will range from good to very poor, depending on the presence of mist and fog. The atmospheric pressure at the time of the forecast issuance was recorded at 1007 hPa, with a sea surface temperature of 27°C.

The wind conditions for the west coast predict a shift from north to northeast at Beaufort scale 3 during the night, transitioning to southwest to northwest 3 to 4 by morning, and escalating to 4 to 5 in the afternoon. The south coast will see southwest to northwest winds at scale 3 during the night, increasing to south to southwest 4 by morning, and further to southwest to west 5 in the afternoon. For the east coast, winds will be southwest to northwest 3 at night, moving to southeast to southwest 3 to 4 in the morning, and reaching south to southwest 4 to 5 in the afternoon. The north coast will experience southeast to southwest winds at scale 3 during the night, changing to southwest to northwest 4 by morning, and intensifying to 4 to 5 in the afternoon.

Warnings have not been issued, and sea conditions across all coasts will range from smooth to slight, with slight conditions prevailing in the afternoon.
