Cyprus Braces for Seasonal Low Pressure Impacting Sea Conditions

Nicosia: The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for the sea area surrounding Cyprus, indicating that a seasonal low-pressure system is currently affecting the region. The atmospheric pressure recorded at the time of issuance was 1008hPa. The weather is expected to remain mostly clear, though increased low cloud coverage may be observed during the night and early morning hours. Additionally, local mist and fog patches are anticipated to form primarily in the eastern areas during the early morning.

According to Cyprus News Agency, visibility is expected to be generally good, although it may become moderate to poor in areas affected by mist. The sea surface temperature is recorded at 29°C, with no warnings currently in effect.

The forecast outlines specific wind patterns and sea conditions for different coastal regions. On the West Coast, winds will vary from northwest to northeast at night, shifting to a variable pattern in the morning, and then transitioning from southwest to northwest in the afternoon. The sea state will remain smooth to slight throughout the day.

Similarly, the South Coast will experience nighttime winds from the southwest to northwest, with a gradual shift to the southwest during the day. The sea state in this area will also be smooth to slight, becoming slightly rougher locally in the afternoon.

The East Coast will see winds moving from southwest to northwest at night, with a gradual shift to south-southwest winds by the afternoon. The sea conditions are expected to remain smooth to slight throughout the period.

On the North Coast, winds will transition from southeast to southwest at night, moving to a southwest to northwest direction by the afternoon. The sea here is also predicted to be smooth to slight.

Overall, the Cyprus Department of Meteorology advises seafarers and coastal residents to remain informed on the updates, despite the absence of severe weather warnings, to ensure safety and preparedness.
