Cyprus Braces for Rough Seas and Strong Winds

Nicosia: Weak low pressure is affecting Cyprus, bringing mainly cloudy weather and local showers with a risk of isolated thunderstorms, particularly over the western half of the island. Tonight, the showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist, affecting visibility during the period. According to Cyprus News Agency, fresh to strong southwesterly winds ranging from 5 to 6 on the Beaufort scale are forecasted to affect the area, with the state of the sea predicted to be moderate to rough. The western and southern coastal areas, in particular, will experience rough sea conditions. On the west coast, winds are expected to escalate from south to southwest, moving from 4 to 5 in the morning to 5 to 6 by night, causing the sea state to transition from moderate to rough. The south coast will also see a similar pattern, with winds shifting and sea conditions becoming rougher as the day progresses. The east and north coasts will experience slightly less severe conditions, but offshore winds will still reach up to 6 on the Beaufort scale, leading to moderate to rough seas. Sea surface temperatures are currently at 19°C, with atmospheric pressure recorded at 1016 hPa at the time of the forecast. Mariners and coastal residents are advised to exercise caution due to the expected adverse weather conditions.
