Cyprus Awaits Extradition of Lithuanian Real Estate Agent Over Property Dispute

Nicosia: A Lithuanian real estate agent arrested in France on May 16 on suspicion of unlawfully exploiting Greek Cypriot properties in the Turkish-occupied areas will be extradited to the Republic of Cyprus once the formalities are completed. Sources confirmed the development to CNA but gave no indication of when the extradition would take place, saying only that it would proceed 'once the formalities are completed.'

According to Cyprus News Agency, the woman was arrested at Nice airport under a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Republic of Cyprus. In early July, she appealed against its execution. CNA reported on July 11 that a ruling on the appeal was expected within two weeks to a month. A French court has now rejected the 53-year-old's request to block the execution of the warrant.

She will therefore be surrendered to the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus to stand trial on the charges against her, the same sources said.
