Nicosia: The bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and France, developments in the region, and the Cyprus issue are some of the topics set for discussion on Thursday between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, and his French counterpart, Jean-No«l Barrot, in Nicosia.
According to Cyprus News Agency, the meeting is part of the strategic cooperation and partnership development between the Republic of Cyprus and the French Republic. It will begin with a private meeting between the two Ministers, followed by expanded discussions involving delegations from both countries.
The agenda will focus on various areas of bilateral cooperation, including defence and security, energy, education, and culture. Special attention will be given to Cyprus’s priorities ahead of its upcoming EU Council Presidency and the importance of close collaboration with France at the European level.
The Ministers will also exchange views on regional developments and the ongoing Cyprus issue. Following their meeting, Kombos and Barrot are expected to address the media.
Prior to their discussions, the French Foreign Minister will speak at the annual meeting of the Heads of Diplomatic Missions of the Republic of Cyprus. The press release emphasized that cooperation between Cyprus and France is being bolstered within the EU and on international platforms, including the International Organization of Francophonie, where Cyprus has been a full member since October 2024.
