Cyprus Airports See 3% Decrease in Passenger Traffic in October

Nicosia:Passenger traffic at Cyprus' Larnaca and Paphos airports experienced a 3% decrease in October, as reported by Hermes Airports. This decline comes amid discussions with airlines about strengthening flight programs to Cyprus in 2027.

According to Cyprus News Agency, Hermes Airports participated in Routes World 2026, an event dedicated to developing air connectivity, held in Frankfurt from October 21-23. During the event, Hermes Airports held over 30 meetings with airlines, focusing on plans for the winter period of 2026-2027 and beyond. Airlines expressed interest in extending the winter travel period, contingent upon Cyprus enhancing its tourism offerings year-round.

Hermes Airports reported that October saw 1.43 million passengers at the two airports, down 3% from the same month last year. Despite this downturn, Hermes Airports projects that 2026 will end with approximately 13.3 million passengers, reflecting a 3% decrease from 2025, which had the highest recorded passenger traffic. This projection underscores Cyprus's continued appeal as a tourist and air travel hub.
