Astana: The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, arrived in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Tuesday afternoon, marking the first official visit by a Cypriot President to the country.
According to Cyprus News Agency, a statement from the Presidency detailed that President Christodoulides was welcomed at Astana Airport by Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, Zhaslan Madiyev, along with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arman Issetov, and Deputy Mayor of Astana, Yerik Meyirkhanov. The Ambassadors of both countries, Petros Nakouzis and Nikolay Zhumakanov, were also present during the welcoming ceremony.
The schedule for the visit includes a meeting with Kazakhstan's top political leadership on Wednesday morning. During the visit, President Christodoulides is also set to address a business forum aimed at fostering ties between the business communities of Cyprus and Kazakhstan.
President Christodoulides is accompanied by a delegation that includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Kombos, Minister of Energy, Trade, and Industry Michalis Damianos, Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki, Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy Nikodimos Damianou, Director of the President's Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou, and other officials.
